The Rochedale Tigers were the lucky winners of our SEQ Development Facebook competition giving them the chance to have Petero show up for an exclusive training session.
It was a chilly evening as the kids and parents of the Rochedale Tigers Under 9’s started to arrive for training just like every other training session this year. The difference this night was that there seemed to be an extra vibe of excitement around the Clubhouse as the NRL staff made their way down onto the training field with the Under 9’s coach. Coach Shane started their session with their usual Warm-up activities before introducing the NRL staff that were along for the night to run the boys through a few new skills and drills. The kids’ faces all lit up as Petero Civoniceva made his way across the field to meet the Under 9’s team and coaching staff. Petero was eager to jump into the first fun game of the night. It was great to see the Queensland forward running around with the little team tagging, passing and laughing with the kids.
With the session almost finished, Petero decided he would like to go and visit the other 3 teams that were training for a quick chat with the players and coaching staff. Petero was kind enough to stick around for the whole training session to help pack up and carry the gear back up into the Clubhouse.
It was great to get Petero for a night out of his very busy life to come along and give back to a local Junior Rugby League Club on the South East.
Special thanks must go to the Mothers who got behind the competition and worked so hard to get Petero to their Club. Also thanks again to Shane Maller and the Rochedale Tigers Committee.
