NRL Stars of the future get amongst skills and drills for another successful School Holiday Clinic in West Mitchelton, Queensland.

As we reach the half way mark of the 2013 NRL season, NRL Development Team host another successful Holiday Clinic which saw over 150 participants involved in the day. This is a massive achievement following on from the record numbers held earlier this year at Broncos Holiday Clinic.

With the rain looking to hamper the day earlier on in the week, the football gods put on great weather for the day which allowed our budding young NRL stars of the future to get amongst the skills and drills planned for the day.

The clinic was underway with 10 groups of very excited and enthusiastic participants, some of which you could not wipe the smiles of their faces as they waved goodbye to parents on their way to the first skills bay.  As an added bonus to the day, Broncos player – Dale Copely and NRL Ambassador – Petero Civoniceva joined into the games with the kids. Dale mentioned how great it is to swap his rehab duties for some coaching opportunities with the up and coming junior players of Brisbane.

All participants took the opportunity to have a small morning tea break and rehydrate for the next lot of fun and exciting games. Petero kindly spoke to the participants about eating healthy and ensure we fuel their bodies to last the remainder of the day. With plenty of interesting comments and great healthy eating tips all participants joined Petero and Dale in a group shot to top the morning session off.

Many parents took the opportunity to get individual photos from our special Rugby League guest; they also left all the participants with a signed Broncos Poster. With plenty more hard hitting tackles, spectacular tries and mind blowing team work our groups saw out the remainder of the rotations and managed to squeeze in a lunch break as well. As the day came to a close, all participants and parents came together as the NRL thanked them for their involvement in the clinic. Each participant received their clinic pack and funky new NRL shirt. As an extra little surprise to the day, 6 special prizes were given out to participants for their great sportsmanship qualities they displayed throughout the entire day. Great job to those prize winners!

This day would not be possible without the help of all the West Mitchelton JRLFC staff. BUT first of all we would like to thank the children and their families for supporting the event and registering to be involved.

We would also like to thank – Brisbane Broncos, NRL Ambassador Program, West Mitchelton JRLFC, Burton Circus, Footy Fangs and all the local schools who promoted the holiday clinic in their school newsletters.
