The Wests Tigers may not be doing so well in the top grade, but Tigers fans will be happy to know their future is in safe hands.

Three days after the Balmain Tigers Under 18’s successfully defended their title in the SG Ball representative competition, hundreds of primary school students turned out to contest for the Paul Sironen Shield and the Wayne Pierce Shield.

There was fantastic talent showcased on the day, with all teams competing closely in their respective divisions, in front of special guests Paul Sironen and Tigers NRL star Braith Anasta.

St Charles’ Primary School, who beat a strong St Ambrose team 12-6 in the Grand Final won the Junior Boys division to take home the Wayne Pierce shield.

The Senior Boys division saw an all Holy Spirit Primary School Grand Final, with both teams storming through their pools to meet in the decider. The year six side won 24-16 against the year five team to take home the Paul Sironen Shield, along with bragging rights over their younger peers.

Holy Spirit also won the Girls division, with their Red team beating Putney Primary School in the decider.
